Drawings With Continuously Changing (Auto Dimmer) Light Source

A1

My interest in exhibiting my drawings and paintings with a changing light source came from looking at my work in my sky-lit studio and having the daylight continuously change the light on the artwork as a cloud passed in front of the sun and then when the sun came out again. Some time around 1978, I began to exhibit some of my paintings or drawings with a specially designed light which automatically dimmed and then became bright again. Usually this sequence, from bright to dark and back to bright again, could take about 20 seconds, but it was possible, with the dimmer boxes that we designed, to set any time sequence.
